Knee Deep is a narrative adventure game inspired by live theater and swampland Florida. Set on a massive stage and told in three acts, the game follows three playable characters as they investigate the suicide of an actor in a backwater town. Conversation induce decision points that provide opportunities to shape the story. Each character also has a unique "reporting" mechanic; for instance, Romana must update her blog throughout the investigation, selecting stories and spin.It's a game that brings together two different artistic media: digital gaming and live theater. We want players to have the feeling as if they're enjoying a staged production, but with twists that could only be accomplished in a digital space. For example, our stage rotates like a lazy susan, moving characters among "scenes" in a unique way.
